Save for later
I talked so much bullshit on Spurious Generalities lol
I’m with a credit union that allows 20% down annually, directly on the principal. They also allow you to double weekly payments, with the “extra” amount applying right to the principal.
They ALSO don’t require that the 20% down be put on all at once - so you can walk in every month with $5,000 to put on the mortgage and nobody bats an eye unless you’re over the annual maximum.
YMMV but I feel like I’m getting away with something by taking advantage of these terms.
Tbf, understanding capitalism and thinking it’s a bad system aren’t mutually exclusive. I’d say my understandings of capitalism - and how shitty it generally is - has played into my success in organizing my personal finances.
Isn’t Russia ultra-capitalist and nationalist, though? Isn’t Russia actually bad?
Holy shit - I didn’t expect to run into a totse reference today.
That was some shit, wasn’t it?
This happens during the Civil War quests when you take forts. The remaining defenders take off out the gate and down the road after a certain percentage are killed.
I don’t know what you mean.
Either something is or isn’t a genocide. There are various characteristics regarding intentionality that this entails. In general, historical consensus is that the Holodomor is not a genocide.
Ukrainian nationalists will tell you otherwise, but that isn’t standard historical consensus. That’s all I’m saying.
FYI: This is absolutely not true. I wouldn’t go so far as the guy above and say it’s Nazi propaganda, but just check the threads on /r/AskHistorians to see that there are a variety of factors that cause the Holodomor to not really be considered a genocide by most historians today.
The idea that the Holodomor - in all its tragedy - is comparable to the Holocaust is something that’s been weaponized by Ukrainian nationalists, though. Even though it isn’t really true.
This is pure gold. I burst out laughing in public. Thanks for that.
That’s a targeted killing, not a random home invasion turned murder.
I don’t understand your comment -
The chance of being murdered in a random Canadian home invasion is nearly nil. It’s far less than getting struck by lightning, trampled by an escaped cow, or other such incredibly unlikely event. You can use emotional language all you want, but the fact is that somebody who scoffs are the idea of owning a firearm for home defense in Canada is almost certainly never going to be in a situation where one is required.
Do you know what the odds of being murdered in a random home invasion are in Canada?
He won’t be, because he lives in a functioning country like Canada.
It’s titled, “The Raft.” Published in Skeleton Crew.
Not saying anything, but the same woman making these claims is on record a few months ago saying that the camp was basically an educational institution and that nothing bad happened there. Now the story has changed. And VOA is literally run by the American government and pushes their line hard on foreign policy. And the article also includes info from noted sinophobe and maniac evangelical lunatic Adrien Zenz.
This doesn’t pass the smell test, to me.
If you really think the Q stuff is just about different politics, head over to /r/Qanoncasualties and see how family members are trying to cope with loving someone who has “gone down the rabbit hole.”
It quickly becomes such a focus that they are incapable of living in the real world. It consumes their entire being - delusions of grandeur, aggression towards anyone not in on the “truth,” becoming incapable of discussing anything without bringing it back to Q nonsense.
It isn’t just politics. It in all seriousness operates more like a cult. Don’t blame the family members who - at the end of the day - have to walk away. I can guarantee you at the end of the day they wish more than anything to have their family member back instead of the stranger that this stuff turns them into.
You seem oddly aggressive - I never said that the USA was a third world country. I just mentioned Flint in a conversation about access to clean drinking water, then looked it up and found that there are apparently millions of people in the USA who don’t have access to clean water. I found this surprising, for residents in one of the worlds richest countries.
Are you mistaking me for the OP, perhaps?
It’s not comparable.
It is more a shock horror piece than a traditional “scary movie” it has several extremely graphic scenes that include horrific sexual and bodily violence perpetrated against the characters. It also includes footage of the real killings of a number of live animals.
That’s why I say it’s probably not something I’d recommend for a 16 year old. You really need to know what it is before you go poking your nose in - those types of images can stay with you in your head. Choosing to invite them into your life is a choice that shouldn’t just be made arbitrarily, or with the idea that doing so is just the same as watching a horror standard like the Exorcist.
When I was your age, I watched a bunch of snuff/shock clips from different websites - Rotten.com and so on. I didn’t think it was a big deal at all. But seeking out that sort of material and consuming it - like I said - stays with you. I wish now that I hadn’t watched that stuff. There are some things that are filmed that there’s no reason for anyone to watch.
I’m not saying that that’s exactly comparable to Cannibal Holocaust - but it’s in the same ball park. So just know what you’re getting in to.
From the tone of your responses here, it strikes me that you might not know what you’re getting into with this film. I suggest you look it up, at least, before diving in headfirst.
I just Googled it, wondering if it was just Flint.
Apparently there are millions of people across the USA that don’t have clean water to drink. Pittsburgh, Detroit, Milwaukee, Newark, Washington DC, Charleston, and a smattering of places across Texas and California, to name just a few. From lead toxification to other forms of pollution.
So apparently even by the “clean water” metric, a lot of us aren’t doing so hot.
Flint is eyeing us suspiciously
You sweat and you slave and you steal just enough to get a sweet lick of that shiny brass ring.
Don’t I get a lick?
Doesn’t Gil get a lick?
