Hi everyone! Very new to the sub and fairly new to using polymer clay. I have a piece of glass and I want to decorate it’s exterior. Unfortunately, I can’t bake the glass at the temps required to cure the clay. So I’ve been trying to make a “mold” around the glass structure, remove the glass, bake the clay, and glue the glass back in place.
That said every attempt at this has resulted in significant structural changes as the uncooked clay sticks to the glass in some places. Any advice on removing the glass while retaining the structure? I thought about using small sprinkles of something like corn starch or flower on the areas that will be in contact with the glass. Will that work? Is there another lubricating material that would work better? Should I use something like tinfoil or wax paper in between the clay and the glass?
Any help would be much appreciated.
I am currently on a severely high risk pregnancy so I will be stuck at home for at least 6 more months. I was thinking of getting into polymer clay creations. Do you guys have any tips as to which kit I should get or what materials can get me started properly? Thank you and I love everything I see on here!
quick question! recently i made a few air dry clay rings and went through a process of drying, painting, and sealing (with clear nail polish). they were working really well until one began to develop a really big crack from excessive use. how would you remedy this?
(note: i’m not sure if this is allowed to post - if not, i’ll take it down!)
Hello, I thought I would ask this question as I haven’t been able to find a way as of yet. I’m trying to make mushroom earrings for a friend but I have to keep trashing them because the white bits of clay always get stained by the red residue on my hands. I wash my hands but the clay is still stuck on there. I’ve tried using nail polish remover to clean the top layer of red on the white clay but it doesn’t work well enough, especially in smaller areas. Does anyone have advice? Also, I can’t get the stem attached to the body as it keeps slipping off. How can I keep it on securely without denting the top of the mushroom?
