True story, didn’t know about the Nintendo exclusion nor did the target employee. Wouldn’t process the “buy one get one 50%” when I was trying to buy two switch games (duh). And the employee just punched in a code and said it must have been a mistake 🤷♂️
Davide Soliani (the game's director and meme legend) said Nintendo was intricately involved in its development despite it being sold under the Ubi banner.
If you want a physical copy though, that sale doesn't apply. Maybe the price will drop $5 in 15 years, when people are asking for a port to the New Switchi Plus LL.
Yeah, but then you'll get the Nintendo-apologists being all "you should be grateful you're getting any discount at all!" like any other company's games don't go to about 50% off within a year while Nintendo games are always at their starting price forever.
Seeing BOTW for $45 is probably the fastest I’ve ever ordered a game. I’d been waiting months for it to drop in price without realizing Nintendo didn’t really do that lol
This is why switch will never be my main console. It's just for exclusives. I still enjoy it, but I'll never buy anything new for it that isn't an exclusive. It's also the only console I don't mind buying games for on release, since the prices rarely ever go down
I've done the same thing as your wife because the prospect of playing some of those awesome indie games on the go is too hard to resist. Plus it's not like playing the games on PC will allow for better graphics on 2D games.
Yeah see I've got the same setup, my PC is hooked up to a big TV and I often play games on it but I've bought Stardew on the switch solely because I like to play when I'm not at home as well.
I love the switch as a concept but there really isn't much I actually want to play. Mario Kart, BOTW, that's about it. Everything else seems like a wii remake etc or something without much story or online / replay value
I bought witcher and red dead 2 on sale with a wireless controller for not much more than one switch game and my dual core i7 laptop plays witcher 3 better than a switch can unfortunately.
I just wish they had a few more titles as good as botw. Mario and Luigi titles just don't feel like that with the recent stuff I've seen.
That and the fact that any multi-plat game on Switch runs like complete ass compared to other consoles.
So essentially you pay 30-50% more for a totally inferior version.
The ongoing pandemic really makes the Switch Tax even more questionable considering I’ll always be playing the inferior version here. Disregarding achievements/trophies that people may or may not want to collect, we are usually getting a poorer version of a game that we’d prefer to run on our more powerful hardware (e.g., PS4 Pro, PC, etc.). Honestly ridiculous how they charge for RE0/RE1 at $79.99 CAD physically. That’s an extreme example of Switch Tax though, but still doesn’t soften the blow.
Nobody Tell Nintendo that they can charge $89.99 CAD for games now like Demon’s Souls for PS5. I can’t fathom seeing Skyward Sword (Barely) HD for $90.
Does waiting diminish my own enjoyment of a single player game? Not the person you asked but as a cheap gamer on a tight budget on the PS4, most of my gaming is either old games or ones that have found their way to the free games on PS+.
Agreed but price is still set based on what it was new. I just bought a used switch and used games in store are still like $50. Meanwhile games on steam are digital only, non-transferable, but you can get witcher 3 with all DLC for $25 if you get it at the right time. I'd prefer downloading games if it was a reasonable price for a 2-3 year old game.
Nintendo is still the only company to ever revoke my purchased digital titles. Can't access anything I bought on the Wii Eshop even though they're selling the same titles on the Switch Eshop and had the same thing on the DS Eshop.
So uh...the Wii eShop was probably the most busted thing in modern ecommerce. They didn't actually know if you had bought anything on their end, it just checked if your console said you could download it.
So consequently you could just set a flag on your console that you "owned" anything you wanted, then go download it.
It was impossible to carry over the Wii library because it was just so insecure and compromised.
Yeah, well, I'd already had a functional Steam account for like five years at that point, there was no good reason for any of it. Like, let me submit receipts for the transactions to get credits on the new store that isn't broken, howsabout, instead of just giving me the finger - and causing me to inform everyone forever not to buy digital games from Nintendo because they will shaft you if they choose to?
Oh I'm not saying it's justifiable, I'm just showing you it was even MORE fucked up and dumb than you thought it was.
Like how you could ever think a client-trust online software store was a good idea is mind-blowing. I guess because they never really planned for the eShop to carry "real" games.
Kind of funny, Nintendo's lack of sales is probably the easiest way to protect physical media.
Digital sales is a bludgeon that game publishers use to squeeze extra profits out of a dying title. They make sure that the secondary value of a game is garbage. Retail outlets that have already purchased the game already gave the publisher their money, so no worries with the price of new dropping, while secondary market resale outlets have to compete with a sale price making it less, or even unprofitable to sell your game after market.
Finally it pushes people who would buy it after market (a case where the publisher gets zilch) to buying it direct from publisher or market place where the publisher gets money off the sale.
Like it or not, Nintendo's method is the best way to keep independent game stores alive while also protecting the value of your purchased game if it continues to be a desirable title years later.
Sadly over here (The Netherlands) the second hand market has figured out that prices for Switch games never really go on any sort of big sale. And thus the prices for 2nd hand listings haven't really dropped either.
I can buy a second hand PS4 game for like 20-30eu, meanwhile most Switch titles are 45eu and up.
Still cheaper than new, definitely, but sadly the market is still pretty pricey.
Who shelled out $60 for the new Link's Awakening? Who's gonna shell out $60 for the new skyward sword? The guy who's got disposable income 20 years after the game's original release
Links awakening was never worth $60, and that is coming from someone that loves that game. It doesn’t have much replayability and it is really short and linear, particularly when you compare it with BOTW.
Nostalgia mostly. Links awakening (Game boy colour) not only was m my first Zelda but it was my first ‘proper’ game with a story and progression, I loved every bit of it. I have played it enough times (as a kid) that 20 odd years later I remember most of the puzzles and the switch version feel more like a chore than actual fun.
Having said that I want to play it with my gf and look forward to sharing it with my kids, but just due to nostalgia.
If you are new to the franchise, or the story, it is worth playing. It has one of the most unique stories (doesn’t feature Zelda, for example) And it also is one of the highest rated games in the franchise.
The most expensive game I own is Earthbound on the SNES. I got it as a gift when I was a kid. It is now worth almost $300 for just the cartridge by itself. If I still had the box and manual, it would be $1300.
I don't live at home, when I found out how much it would cost to rebuy everything, I had my mom promise if she ever wanted to get rid of stuff she'd text me first haha.
I think it's because we're all hitting that age and stage in careers where we're financially stable enough to chase the things of our past. Like, only just a couple years ago I finally went out and bought Perfect Dark and Goldeneye. Same driving force with the Pokemon TCG.
I forget which one but when I traded in my NES and games for N64 I had some MegaMan title they gave me like $150 for. I can only imagine what it's worth now.
Games that weren't popular early on, but had a cult following and breakout years later are the ones that are expensive. Concor's bad fur day is one example. In the 90's it was a rated M game with a cute squirrel on the cover that seemed to follow the same formula as banjo kazooie. Years later people discovered that it had a well written raunchy storyline that people loved and suddenly people wanted it.
I'm sad that the Rare Replay version didn't come with all the extra online multiplayer stuff that was included in the Xbox "Live and Reloaded" version. I still enjoyed the heck out replaying though.
If you have the Pokewalker it sells for that much, otherwise retail price is the median (which isn't bad).
Not sure what you mean, the game cartridge by itself is selling for $100. The pokewalker goes for $40-50 by itself. Complete set in box is going for $250-300
They needed to include the motion Plus controller because I think they realized the regular Wii mote was not going to cut it for the controls needed in skyward sword and needed the extra motion+ sensors. They probably figured it would piss people off if they put out the game and said "hey you bought the system with a controller, you bought the game, but now you need to buy an extra controller that didn't come with your system to use it."
I just bought wii sports resort for $50 and it was the only copy for sale in like 30 miles I was really confused but the worst part is I don’t have any Wii motion plus add ons so I can’t play it and now have to find and over pay for those too.
Seriously. I'm a garbage man. People throw that shit away all the time. I'll start grabbing. I'm gotten alot out of old ataris but I didn't know wii stuff had any value.
They do it because it works. No one is forcing any of us to buy Skyward Sword on Switch. And if no one did, maybe Nintendo would put more effort into their future remasters.
I enjoyed Skyward Sword in 2011, but it's probably my least favorite Zelda. I'm not planning on paying for it again.
It's the same for Pokemon. Everyone complained about how low-effort Sword and Shield were, and yet they sold 20M copies. So Nintendo has zero incentive to do anything differently.
Some of these games 10,15,20 years old are amazing games right. We loved them.
Theres a whole new generation playing them in a world where gaming is even bigger.
So yeah. Was i a sucker for rebuying Tony Hawk 1 and 2?
Sure
But ill bet if you removed every single consumer who haf already purchased it....it still sold more new copies that the origals did.
Same for the new dumb ass pokemon games
My little brother will never pick up a N64, scoffs at the gamecube graphics, and thinks the wii is the old person workout system
So the 3D all stars its like 3 brand new games available on his switch whilst i rebuy it and complain that it was cheaply remade and huffing that i could have dug thru wires and played the old copies i already had.
But at the end of the day...no matter the product you sell...its for new customers. The nostalgic consumers are just icing on the cake that lets them.get fastracked due to guranteed sales.
This is great perspective. I totally agree with this logic.
If people would still buy the N64 copies of Mario or skyward sword for the wii, they’d sure as hell still be on the shelf. “Rebranding” a great game on the newest console is just good business, films get re-play in theaters all the time.
I’d love more effort, better price points but that’s just bad business. I won’t watch old shows when there is “nothing on” because of some prejudice to “old products”. No way and hell am I routinely setting up an N64 on a family TV and setting up a chair 6ft from the TV. They know that.
But do I want to play amazing games with my son (in a world of increasingly shitty micro transactions and low effort stories), yes.
Absolutely. And let's not forget that it's on a portable machine with decent battery life and nice controllers. My girlfriend is loving 3D All Stars and I, as a person who never played Nintendo growing up (apart from the snes), can see why and will play through Galaxy and Sunshine myself.
We have rose-tinted glasses looking back at the games that we played growing up and don't realise that people of this generation wouldn't play allot of the games of yester-year without some serious quality of life improvements.
Yeah I'd always heard SS had janky motion controls and it didn't sound appealing. If the improvements are smooth enough, I'm buying SS happily this time. I'm even willing to try out motion controls 2.0
So yeah. Was i a sucker for rebuying Tony Hawk 1 and 2?
Not even close to the same. That was a complete remake of the original and it was amazing and somehow looks and plays like a modern game but still feels like the game from 20 years ago.
Skyward sword is a lazy ass port with NOTHING changed besides button controls now
That would maybe be a good point if all the ports on the Switch didn't sell well, but they've sold amazing lol. I'm betting this game sells at least 5 million units, and I bet that's on the low end.
I think people fail to realize that even if every user in /r/gaming or /r/nintendo or whatever "boycotted", that's still a small fraction of the Switch install base.
An old Zelda game is still worth $60 to millions of people, and at the end of the day, value is subjective.
modern, highly rated AAA games going for half off like a month or two after release but if you want Mario Party 17 it’s full price forever lmao truly remarkable that they’ve escaped all criticism in this industry for so long
By the time titles launch on the switch they are already half price on all other platforms and yet the switch will launch them at the highest price they have ever been.
Dont get me wrong, I love Nintendos games, but god damn Ive seen so many fans working overtime for Nintendo to defend the pricing. A 10 year old game with slightly enhanced graphics is not worth $60...
Then again, a now nearly 9 year old game in Mario Kart 8 shouldnt be $60, but thats Nintendo for ya.
N64 games literally cost 60$ in 1996. soooo not much has changed. Inflation on games could be so much worse, but I don't think it will. It would price out the consumer.
Reminds me of the BoneStorm episode of the Simpsons where Marge drops that line "cost up to and including $60". That was 25 years ago and that's still pretty much the case. Wild.
When I rocked a PS2, I would wait until they hit the "classics" shelf with a case redesign and dropped to $15-20. Now, with substantially more dispensable income I can barely bring myself to spend $15 on a game.
Before disc based games were the standard, games actually had fluctuating prices, especially cartridges. Carts are harder and more costly to make for the platform holder and the game publisher. That was reflected in the price of games. Especially in rpgs, which would require larger storage on the carts. It’s why snes rpgs were often $80-$90+, and why n64 had so few rpgs. It played a role in square enix abandoning Nintendo for a generation. Imagine if ff7 had come to n64. It would have been multiple cartridges and cost like $200+.
On top of that, only in the west - possibly only America - really had standard pricing for games these last 20 years. In Japan game prices still fluctuate.
I did this with the N64 Majoras mask. I wanted to buy it like 6 years ago but it was around $45 everywhere and decided to wait. Now I can't find it cheaper than like $55.
There are a finite number of copies of Majoras Mask in the entire world and the number goes down every day. If you want a retro game, especially a classic and desirable one, the best time to buy it is right now. They will not get cheaper.
Exactly. Why would anyone think that physical copies of games that are no longer being produced would get cheaper over time? They'll only get more expensive as they become rarer and rarer, until eventually, the only people still buying them are hardcore collectors with ridiculous amounts of money to spend.
Yeah I don't like the digital entertainment marketplace. Used to be you either bought the game new for $50 or waited until someone returned a copy to the local (not gamestop) game store and picked it up for $40 or waited until blockbuster sold the extra copies they had a few months later for $20.
New you pay the price no matter how long you wait.
No joke the other day I decided I wanted to grab a copy of mario galaxy for my wii so I looked on Amazon and was shocked that it was going for $65 - $150. As a primarily xbox and pc guy I had no idea nintendo games were in this situation
They sold more copies of Modern Warfare 3 than Mario Galaxy, but for most people MW3 got dated (yes some people still play it but not many) so people will sell it used. Mario Galaxy a lot of the people who have it will hold on to it, and a lot more people want to grab a copy of it now than want to grab a copy of MW3. Supply and demand.
If you happen to have a Switch, for $60 (or maybe a little less) you can get a 3-in-1 of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy.
Everyone laughs at Nintendo for not discounting their first party titles that sell well. The end of life for my wii u taught me something important though. Because of this, I was able to sell off several physical games for enough to recoup a chunk of my switch purchase. Things like zelda, Pokemon, mario, smash brothers, etc all retain their value much better than anything you'll find on another system.
I've pretty much only bought switch titles on cartridge. When the switch goes the way of the wii and it's time for an upgrade, even if some of em only get me 10-15 bucks, it'll be better than digital
On Sale? I don’t even know what that is -Nintendo
Nintendo sales are like this: 50% discount for all these smartphone control indie games and maybe 2€-3€ discount for the AAA titles.
Target sales be like : Buy 2, Get 1 Free on absolutely everything in the store *
*Excluding all Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Metroid, Pikmin, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Starfox, and any other 1st-party Nintendo games we forgot to mention.
Ha, jokes on you, they haven't even released any Metroid games to not put on sale
Ha! Haha. Ha...

Maybe only on switch, but theres plenty everyone else wants to play on other systems. Meanwhile the switch has become a port machine.
Botw fills the hole in my wallet
Botw is also a port
Wasn't BoTW a simultaneous release, and thus technically not a port?
It both is and isn’t a port. A quantum port if you will.
Schrödinger's port?

True story, didn’t know about the Nintendo exclusion nor did the target employee. Wouldn’t process the “buy one get one 50%” when I was trying to buy two switch games (duh). And the employee just punched in a code and said it must have been a mistake 🤷♂️
My last month working there I got tired of explaining it to people so I just started overriding it.
Guessing Target took a bit of a loss in the video department sales.
...
*Exept that "Mario and Rabbits" thingy we released. Take that shit off our shelves.
Edit: by now I know many people like the game nd that it was made by Ubisoft. Didn't know that Ubisoft made it and now I do.
That's because Mario and Rabbids was developed by Ubisoft, not Nintendo.
Davide Soliani (the game's director and meme legend) said Nintendo was intricately involved in its development despite it being sold under the Ubi banner.
They were but Ubisoft published it and sets the pricing on it.
...
But I liked that game though :(
It's a fantastic game lol honestly surprised when I finally played it.
Mario xcom
...
It's a top five most played switch game for me. It's the Mario Kart of turn-based strategy games (which is high praise).
...
I wish it had online play, my gf won’t play with me anymore.
Good or not, if it don't bring in the cash it goes in the trash ~someone at Nintendo~
...
Jokes on you. That game is dope.
Unironically one of the best games on switch tho
...
Are you saying that it was made by EA? Because if you are, then you're mistaken. It's developed and published by Ubisoft.

If you want a physical copy though, that sale doesn't apply. Maybe the price will drop $5 in 15 years, when people are asking for a port to the New Switchi Plus LL.

I once saw a Nintendo sale. The games went from $59.99 to $54.99. Saved me a whole 5 bucks.
Insane deal!!!
It's buy 10 get one (almost) free!
Reminds me of South Park joke about Wal-Mart, "Look guys, get a 3-pack of the TimeCop DVD for $11.99!"
"Why would you buy 3 copies?!"
"Because Kyle, it's cheaper than buying 3 separate copies for $6 bucks each."
"Well I'm going to buy a single copy, and save $6! ...Wait, I don't even want a single copy of TimeCop!"
"Dude you can't shop for crap."
"What if I want to watch it more than once"
...
Yeah, but then you'll get the Nintendo-apologists being all "you should be grateful you're getting any discount at all!" like any other company's games don't go to about 50% off within a year while Nintendo games are always at their starting price forever.
The only time I ever buy a game quick from Nintendo is when they release a Zelda game.
But one day I held out and got myself a Horizon Zero Dawn for the PS4 for $30 including the expansions. Best buy ever.

Seeing BOTW for $45 is probably the fastest I’ve ever ordered a game. I’d been waiting months for it to drop in price without realizing Nintendo didn’t really do that lol
Just you wait until you start shopping on the e store. The Switch Tax is real.
What's the switch tax?
A lot of older/indie titles cost $5-10 USD more on Switch eShop than Steam, Xbox, PlayStation
This is why switch will never be my main console. It's just for exclusives. I still enjoy it, but I'll never buy anything new for it that isn't an exclusive. It's also the only console I don't mind buying games for on release, since the prices rarely ever go down
My wife bought a couple indie games on the switch, even though her gaming pc is literally connected to the same TV.
I've done the same thing as your wife because the prospect of playing some of those awesome indie games on the go is too hard to resist. Plus it's not like playing the games on PC will allow for better graphics on 2D games.
Definitely!
Ape Out is so much fun on a handheld.
Lots of great games in the indie store that I've bought twice.
Yeah, all else equal, there is definitely value added for a game on the Switch in terms of its portability.

it definitely could have better frame rate and resolution on PC

Yeah see I've got the same setup, my PC is hooked up to a big TV and I often play games on it but I've bought Stardew on the switch solely because I like to play when I'm not at home as well.

I swear there are digital games that cost $10 more in the Eshop than if I were to buy them physically at Walmart.
Like all of them...

Nintendo estore on switch is ridicolously expensive
It’s also better to just buy the games physically cause then you save on storage space.
You mean the 12 or whatever GB Nintendo gives you isn't enough??

I forget which one but when I traded in my NES and games for N64 I had some MegaMan title they gave me like $150 for. I can only imagine what it's worth now.
Not necessarily more, some games spiked earlier than others in price.

Lol always confused me. So many people buy Nintendo stuff but it’s somehow rare and expensive years later ..
Conker’s was also one of the final games released on the N64, just months before Halo 1.
Such a great game and happy people can play it in the Rare collection on Xbox
Yep, I bought Rare Replay on Xbox One so fast when it came out.
I'm sad that the Rare Replay version didn't come with all the extra online multiplayer stuff that was included in the Xbox "Live and Reloaded" version. I still enjoyed the heck out replaying though.
I hope they still let you fight Bots?
I remember “feign death” lead to tons of laughter when you could trick a friend

Pour some out for the sequel we'll never get

Tell that to Pokemon. Heart Gold is selling for $100 game only.
Fuck, I gotta search for my old cartridge then if it’s going for that much
If you have the Pokewalker it sells for that much, otherwise retail price is the median (which isn't bad).
If you still have it in the cardboard box you might be able to get $200.
EDIT: The game alone can sell as high as $100 on ebay, but the median is still below $90
Sold my complete SoulSilver with box, walker, manual, etc for $200CAD
...
Not sure what you mean, the game cartridge by itself is selling for $100. The pokewalker goes for $40-50 by itself. Complete set in box is going for $250-300
...
...
Look through your old things for sure. Covid has spiked retro games hard. Gamecube is probably the biggest example of prices going crazy.
What was a $40-60 game (let’s say Twilight Princess or Pokémon XD) is now $100+ easy. It’s nuts.

That's not even what this post is about.
Skyward Sword plus Wii motion Plus controller was 69.99 in 2011
Just Skyward Sword ten years later on Switch is 60 dollars.
They needed to include the motion Plus controller because I think they realized the regular Wii mote was not going to cut it for the controls needed in skyward sword and needed the extra motion+ sensors. They probably figured it would piss people off if they put out the game and said "hey you bought the system with a controller, you bought the game, but now you need to buy an extra controller that didn't come with your system to use it."
...
...
Gamecube crap is stupid expensive

r/patientgamers on suicide watch
I save so much on other games, Nintendo's are a drop in the bucket.
...
When I bought it in 2011 it came with a controller
Now it's $80 more.
Except you do not need the branded switch controllers to play it.
The Wii needed an upgraded motion+ controller to play the game, which is why they made the bundle.
...
...
You can't play the old game without the controller
...
THAT'S the thing that gets me. Like they should have done "Buy our new fancy Zelda joycons, and we'll throw in Skyward Sword for free!"
as a Zelda fan, I'm expected to cough up $130 now??
That'll do for this month. They're gonna get you for way way more than that before 2021 ends.
Nintendo's business model revolves entirely around their presumption that fans of x franchise will buy the game/add-on no matter what.
See that’s why it’s great to love Metroid; we rarely get anything so I save a ton of money
Haha yeah, it's great! :(
...
...
if you want the optional controllers sure but you dont need the optional controllers, so, don't buy them?
No you dont get it man, he’s a Zelda fan! So he needs to cough up $130 now
off topic.
I never understood how sports teams makes money but you just explained it.

I never played it because of its controls.
Stoked to play it now.
See the biggest thing about this...
But do I want to play amazing games with my son (in a world of increasingly shitty micro transactions and low effort stories), yes.
...
I'm even willing to try out motion controls 2.0
...
Not even close to the same. That was a complete remake of the original and it was amazing and somehow looks and plays like a modern game but still feels like the game from 20 years ago.
Skyward sword is a lazy ass port with NOTHING changed besides button controls now
And it was two games. Tony Hawk 1 & 2 and it cost 30 bucks.
...
...
...
Nintendo does not learn from the market like this. They just do what they want.
Also the Switch install base is big enough to make the protests of internet nerds moot
Sword and Shield are going to pass Gold and Silver
...

Yo 2011 was ten years ago. That’s blowing my mind right now. Feels like 5 years max. Damn.
I always say it - we must have entered some kind of alternate universe in 2016 where the world is insane and time works weird.
Nope, 2012. The world did end on 12/21/12, and that’s why everything after that is just... different if u get what I mean
As a 30 year old who entered the work force after college around then..... yes, yes I do get what you mean.

It's crazy when you think about it. Cleopatra lived closer in time to the moon landing than we live to the year 2011.

Literally every other platform - up to 75% off sale on AAA games
Nintendo - "Best I can do is 5"
The ps4 store looks like a garage sale when trying to get rid of their games. They be trying to get rid of everything lol.
...
modern, highly rated AAA games going for half off like a month or two after release but if you want Mario Party 17 it’s full price forever lmao truly remarkable that they’ve escaped all criticism in this industry for so long
By the time titles launch on the switch they are already half price on all other platforms and yet the switch will launch them at the highest price they have ever been.

Nintendo has some of the worst anti-consumer policies among the big three (Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony) but they often get a pass for some reason.

The Last of Us 2 being $30 just a couple of months after its release is the reason why I stick with PS/Xbox as my main consoles.
Everything Nintendo is just expensive.

Waiting 10 years until the console finishes its run and all the games are available for emulation!
I love Dolphin. How's the Wii and Wii-U scene?
(edit: I had no idea Dolphin could run Wii games, cool! I've only been using it for N64 and Gamecube.)
You..know that dolphin is also used for Wii emulation, right?
WiiU emulation is pretty good for CEMU but you need a strong ish PC
You can even emulate the Switch nowadays
Breathe of the wild runs better on PC than it does on switch...
That's WiiU emulation though.

Meanwhile Microsoft lets you play 15 year titles on your new Xbox Series S/X, some of them with updated visuals/framerate/resolution/HDR.
Hush! U weren't supposed to say good things about Xbox.

Sold out on Amazon. Why would they price it any cheaper?
...

I really feel like I’m the ONLY one who actually wanted a remaster of Skyward Sword.
I never played it on the Wii so I'm totally happy about it.

A remaster would be great, and nobody would have a problem with that for $60. But this isn’t a remaster, it’s a direct port with updated controls.

Nintendo: "Why would people pirate our games?"
...
N64 games literally cost 60$ in 1996. soooo not much has changed. Inflation on games could be so much worse, but I don't think it will. It would price out the consumer.
Or even $80-90 $for some games on SNES (Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger) and N64 games (I paid $80+ for Extreme-G, an unremarkable Wipeout clone)
Extrem G2 is one of my fave games of all time so you watch that mouth!
...
Omfg I remember extreme g!!! I didnt own it but I'd play with my cousins all the time.
...
Now, with substantially more dispensable income I can barely bring myself to spend $15 on a game.
...
I seem to remember SNES games costing the same in the early 90s. It’s crazy to me how the price point hasnt changed.

They'll only get more expensive as they become rarer and rarer, until eventually, the only people still buying them are hardcore collectors with ridiculous amounts of money to spend.
...
...
The game also will not work without the n64 expansion pak, so you have add the cost of that as well.
I have the expansion pak. It came with the system I bought on eBay luckily.
...
It was pretty hard to buy any games on the switch after playing on PC my whole life, can't remember the last time I spent more than $30 for a game
...

Wait, 150$ for mario galaxy? Damn i have mine there and i cant use it so i might sell it down the road

Quick let’s start investing in Nintendo’s game, Let’s get secondhand decades old Mario games price to the moon 🚀🚀🚀🚀 /s.
