This is why I prefer CinemaWins, it's nice to have some positivity in life and seeing someone passionate about movies so much is nicer than seeing someone hate everything
Honestly itβs very annoying when he just makes a joke and sins the movie anyway. But then again I view it as content created to be perceived as what someone would think if they were wayyy too into sinning movies while giving it a base of genuine opinion
Edit: I earned this flair when joking with mods a couple months ago, please donβt hold it against me
That level was ridiculous. Annoying floaty cars and then when you do it right you're left wondering how it was any different from all the failed attempts.
What's most annoying is that you can tell he never actually sat down to watch the film properly, otherwise he would've noticed tidbits of information here and there that explain away the 'sins.' Instead he probably sits there with a pad and paper eager to note down any little thing he doesn't immediately understand.
What's even better is when he faints ignorance of a later scene which explains the logic leap he can't comprehend, but doesn't remove the sin later when it gets explained. It's either not mentioned again, or the movie gets sinnen yet again for exposition. Why is it faining ignorance? In ither sins he clearly states sentences like "Hold up a minute later in the movie protagonist does yadda yadda why isn't he doing it now"
Yeah I like cinemawins too, but I think cinema sins is also good in finding out some mistakes that shouldn't be there, granted he can sometimes also find unnecessary problems that don't make any sense for being angry over.
Latest WandaVision video is just ridiculous. Gives a sin for Vision doing something, just because the plot said it happens in that way.
Except no, the very next episode tells us that there is a very good reason things happened the way they did, and that him doing that thing in that particular way was not an accident in-universe.
Obviously spoilers apply, but the quality of videos has dramatically decreased.
Could you elaborate on that? How does critical thinking tell you whether, for example, a thing they say isn't explained in the movie actually is explained?
I used to love cinemasins because I like spending 15 minutes thinking about movies Iβve enjoyed, but the whole experience is 500% better with cinemawins instead. Would recommend.
Agreed I used to watch cinema sins like once a day and whenever I wanted to watch 1 of my old favourite movies all I could think of was cinema sins and it dissuaded me from watching them. I'm much happier after swapping to wins
Kinda the same way. Gave up watching it when I saw the one on the old Blade Runner and I'm like "you really dont understand that this defined the genre that you're calling tropes do you? (Either that or you're disingenuous as fuck)"
Cinema wins is good for positivity, but he also actually gives some good analysis and unlike cinema sins, actually watches the film's he's pinging.
And they have an incentive at Sins to hate on every little thing and exaggerate it because it's the literal premise of their channel and that's how they profit.
And they have an incentive at Wins to love on every little thing and exaggerate it because it's the literal premise of their channel and that's how they profit.
Pretty much, why I avoid both lol. I prefer reviewers that have more broad and not picky tastes or aren't that harsh. Y'know, like tell it like it is lol..
Exactly, people use it S
as cliff notes of a movie with commentary. That's why I avoid it, the personality isn't important or even the quality commentary itself.
I just like cinemasins because he can give some jokes at times and honestly I can care less about what he sins because its not meant to be taken literally. He doesnt really hate everything he just does it for the video. There is no action if there is no villain
I can't stand CinemaSins. It's not meant to be taken literally, except when it is, which can also be read as "movie reviews done poorly with a built in alibi for why the reviews are done poorly". Aka schrodinger's douchebag.
Yeag but cinemasins is just for the sins thats why he points out everything no matter how useless or small thing it is and cinemawins points everything good in everything
But he sins dumb stuff. Like he'll sin a movie for not opening immediately into exposition when it starts, then he'll sin the movie for having exposition, and he'll sin a movie for having something seem important but not be, then he'll sin the movie for having the thing be important. Hell, sometimes he sins stuff because he just didn't pay attention or understand a movie.
When you haven't seen the movies he's doing maybe it is more tolerable, but I couldn't stand his videos because he was just... wrong so much.
Cinemasins is the type of movie-watcher to rip out their hair and cry about how Inception was βconfusingβ even though itβs a pretty basic non-linear plot and the entire character of Ariadne exists to be exposited on... sorry you hate movies that leave somewhat open endings? Sorry you forgot that Cobb literally says the top is Malβs totem and that itβs not accurate
Yes but CinemaSins critiques the movie for just existing. I'm fine with it because its not serious, or at least I don't take it seriously. The channel exists for people who look up a movie they love/hate for obvious reasons and nod their head when CinemaSins says something obvious.
Because they are presented as jokes all around. Good movie, Bad movie, it doesn't matter Ryan will poke fun at some of the oddities, but he does so in a way that can't be taken completely seriously.
CinemaSins mixes their legit movie criticism with their lame running gags, blatant hypocrisy (eg. about "I have a bad feeling about this" in SW) and their fake SJW shtick. They need to pick a lane and stick in it.
Jeremy is the kind of guy who just wants to be able to "it's just a joke" his way out of any criticism because he's a total coward who can't be a real critic.
That's when you subscribe to Ryan George's Channel who posts his sketches there, along with having the Pitch Meeting playlist on his channel as well. It's super easy, barely an inconvenience.
I mean he used to be good. It was fun when it was a movie like the minions. It's not fun when he critiques a movie I actually like. I guess that's the appeal

Bro he has such an easy job. Find a movie, watch it and write down anything remotely worth talking about and the time stamp and then spew verbal diarrhea about small details and call it a week.

Editing part is relatively easy. Could be done in a couple hours per episode.
Hard thing about editing is being creative and deciding each cut etc. With the cookie cutter cinema sins episode, you don't need to be an editor, you just need to know how to use an editing software. With takes a complete ape 1 week max.
Oh no they have a team to do that for him. I'm pretty sure he just has a script know that he adds onto if he notices anything else minor ally inconvenient
I feel like it should be said that CinemaSins shouldn't be taken seriously because they don't take themselves seriously. Enjoy the movies you like. A satire channel shouldn't be stopping you.
It was never a satire channel, just a clickbait one.
"Satire" is just an easy catch-all defense against any kind of criticism, sort of like those assholes who think they can say whatever they want as long as they follow up with "it's just a joke bro"
They were funny when they were like, 5 minutes long, not 20. And it's annoying how people watch CinemaSins and now think they are The Film Understander, especially because CinemaSins makes you think tropes are inherently bad
It was good at the beginning when the βjokeβ sins were few and far between and it was more about pointing out minor plot holes youβd never moticed ina a movie you knew well
People who are baffled by "how did Bruce get back in Gotham" or "how Thor found the cave in Age of Ultron" might be the most clueless people alive. If you need a movie to explain every bit of detail to you, might need to stop watching movies and go back to cartoons. "Dora the Explorer" might be more of your speed.
Itβs not that people are sitting all confused, unable to process a change in setting. Writers and directors are supposed to be telling a story, and stuff like Batman finding his way back to Gotham is a challenge we should see the hero overcome.
Those are similar critiques to the later season of game of thrones, in which characters seem to just magically pop up precisely where they need to when the action starts. Itβs not bad because people are somehow confused how a person on horseback is able to get from point A to point B, itβs because theyβre βyada yada-ingβ over the trials and tribulations that the hero is supposed to be facing.
Also Batman totally teleported like around the world.
Or you aren't just paying attention. Batman Begins lays the ground for this, him being able to move around the world as a lowlife criminal. The movie also states it's been months.
The same reason we don't see people going to a bathroom in movies. It is irrelevant and expected and takes no brainpower to understand.
This is comparing apples and oranges. The problem with game of thrones isn't that we don't see the journey, it's that it made journeys which previously were slow and potentially dangerous look trivial. As far as we know travelling long distances is already trivial for Batman.
I like his videos. Gotta love channels shitting on cinemasins.
My only problem with The3Birdman is his constant lazy "Lol blue haired feminist lol" comments. He constantly shits on cinemasins for pointless SJW remarks. But he does the same thing but on the other side of the coin.
Was it tho? It has been years since I've watched one of their videos, but even back then I remember they adding sins for nitpicky stuff like "X secconds of logos" or "this scene doesn't include a lap dance".
I mean sure, they had actual valid criticism sometimes, but their videos were still focused on sarcastic humor as far as I can remember.
You have to watch the videos of the pre 10-minute-video-or-no-money youtube era, where they would make 3-6 min videos pointing out actual movie mistakes like continuity and logic errors. Nowadays it's just dumb sex jokes and fine scenes out of context to stretch out the videos for monetization reasons. Also a few occasions where they attacked the people making the movie instead of the movie itsself, which is kinda shitty.
Yep for most people here past means 1-2 years. They've been doing poor content for 4 years now. Need to go back to 2015 cinemasins to get the good stuff
I liked both the shorter videos and their change to the longer format shrugs I'm always pretty surprised about the usual reaction the channel gets on here.
Wow, I didn't realize do many people unironically disliked that channel. I don't quite get that, it's not meant to be an actual critique of a movie in any way, as they've mentioned countless times. Idk, I find it funny still, even nitpicking movies I enjoy
There's a guy who has made a couple response videos to CinemaSins, pointing out that they just lie about things to get sins added like pretending something isn't explained and then cut the scene from the movie they're sinning just before the explanation is given. It's a good binge, especially the Star Wars one.
Damn people really hating on a satirical movie critic YouTube channel
Edit: since people donβt seem to understand what I mean by this, theyβre making fun of movie reviewers. Theyβre purposely needlessly nit picking about the tiniest details in an effort to make fun of actual movie critics who do the same thing. If thatβs not your type of humor I get it, but understand that cinemasins does NOT take itself seriously and if you canβt get that from watching a single video then I donβt know what to tell you.
This is why I prefer CinemaWins, it's nice to have some positivity in life and seeing someone passionate about movies so much is nicer than seeing someone hate everything

So he did for Tenet, even tho Part 0 was just a lil explanation video on the plot, while Part 1 and 2 were the actual videos about the movie

The point of sins is that they're meaningleaa, otherwise they'd lose their meaning.
I don't find CinemaSins funny at all. Here, I said it.
...

CinemaSins is fucked
I don't know why people take CinemaSins so seriously, it's all a joke. Whether or not it's funny is the question
I prefer EverythingWrongWithCinemasins

I miss the short 5 minute videos. Ever since they started making 20+ minute long videos, the quality has declined.
He also sins for movie characters being jerks, and about 75 percent of his sins are just him complaining about his midlife crisis
...
I get irrationally angry watching cinema sins.
...
There's a guy who has made a couple response videos to CinemaSins, pointing out that they just lie about things to get sins added like pretending something isn't explained and then cut the scene from the movie they're sinning just before the explanation is given. It's a good binge, especially the Star Wars one.
Mad Max video,
Empire Strikes Back video,
a video addressing multiple movies,
another video of multiple movies,
a final video of multiple movies

Damn people really hating on a satirical movie critic YouTube channel
Edit: since people donβt seem to understand what I mean by this, theyβre making fun of movie reviewers. Theyβre purposely needlessly nit picking about the tiniest details in an effort to make fun of actual movie critics who do the same thing. If thatβs not your type of humor I get it, but understand that cinemasins does NOT take itself seriously and if you canβt get that from watching a single video then I donβt know what to tell you.
Nah the dude said he's trying to pass it off as actual critsism
...
It's not satire

Everytime Reddit talks about cinemasins it becomes a cringefest
...
I never liked cinemaSins. Pitch Meetings is my top pick and Honest Trailers are pretty good too.
Is cinema sins and cinema wins run by the same person?
No
He marks sins for stupid ass jokes that aren't even funny. Cinemasins is worse than gametheory
